Coins for Cancer Raises €227,000

The appeal which ran during the Euro changeover and 2002 collected old Irish and foreign coins and all proceeds are going to Cancer Research in Beaumont Hospital. The final pennies have been counted and €227,000 was raised during the period.

We were delighted to welcome some of our great friends at Superquinn, Molloys, Clerys and Golden Discs to the hospital for a photo shoot. Also present on the day, were children from local school, Scoil Ide, who had collected old coins also, after two of their teachers had died from Cancer.

“The final figure surpassed even our own expectations. The public certainly got behind our campaign. Everybody can be assured that their contribution, no matter how large or small, will go towards life saving cancer programmes,” said Beaumont Hospital Foundation Director Mike Hannon.

Deputy Chairman of Superquinn, Eamon Quinn added “It was such a simple idea that has been so successful and supported a very worthy cause”.

Beaumont Hospital Foundation would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who donated, helped and supported the campaign. It is because of all this help that the campaign has been so successful. Thank You.
