The Charity Sweepstakes at Leopardstown has become an annual
event in fundraising for Beaumont Hospital. In 2001 sixteen riders
turned out at Leopardstown to participate in the Leopardstown
Annual Charity Sweepstake on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th October.

The
race was won by Dave Philips who rode Michael Smurfit's 'Cruex
Noir', trained by Dermot Weld.

Second
was Hayley Prout, whose horse 'Strike Alliance' is trained
by Oliver McKiernan and owned by Mrs. Mc.Kiernan |

Pierce Power
from the Aidan O'Brien stable rode 'Van Dantzig' into third
place. The horse is owned by Mrs. A.M. O'Brien.

The first rider

Khan'. Another Mrs. O'Brien horse, it is trained by Aidan
O'Brien. |

have yet to be announced, but the entry
rules from last years event will apply.
