We have prepared some fundraising ideas to get you started and you may also have your own unique ideas that you know your friends will enjoy.

You can also take part in one of our Fundraising Challenges. Whether it's a Marathon or a Walk we have organised events to suit everyone.

Whatever you decide to do we'll be here to assist you every step of the way. Please contact us in advance of any fundraising event and we will provide you with Sponsorship Cards, T-Shirts, Buckets or Posters.

Please note that the following Fundraising Tips must have Garda Permission for Outdoor Collections. If collecting in a Shopping Centre permission must be had from the Management of the Shopping Centre

Raffle Tips

  • For a public raffle you need a permit, this can be obtained from your local Garda station. (we will help you obtain this)
  • State on your tickets where the permit was obtained.
  • Plenty of prizes with one good first prize.
  • Make sure to have plenty of volunteers to sell tickets etc.

Golf Day Ideas

  • Good event for a member of a golf club.
  • Decide how many teams you will have.
  • Playing format
  • What price will you charge per team
  • Sponsorship of tee boxes and greens can generate additional income. Agree sponsorship cost per tee/green.
  • Agree format for post event socialising with the golf club. Run a raffle (This is a confined raffle associated with an event the rules above do not apply).
  • Prizes: teams/nearest pin/longest drive/ladies prizes
  • Scorecards/starter/scorer

Bucket Collections

  • Maximise your collection by holding it at an event that is already organised. Sports events.
  • Garda Permits are needed and the earlier you decide where and when the better. These are granted from the local Garda station, this can be done directly or we can do it on your behalf.
  • Buckets can be supplied by the Foundation. We can also supply stickers for the buckets.

Coffee Mornings

  • Print up fliers advertising your coffee morning and what it is in aid of.
  • Ensure you have adequate cups, saucers, plates etc and plenty of volunteers (washing up!).
  • Normally the charge is €1 and you could also ask people to make a donation. Or you could use the coffee morning to sell raffle tickets or perhaps have a competition during the course of the morning.
  • If you or any of your friends are good cooks, ask them to bake and have a cake sale.

Supermarket Bag Packs

  • Choose a supermarket and ask their permission to pack bags and agree a date. Weekends and late night shopping are usually the best times. (Normally Garda Permits are not needed here)
  • You will need buckets for this and we can provide these along with stickers advertising what you are collecting for.
    Plenty of volunteers are needed for this one so gather all your friends together!!

Pub Quizzes

  • Ask your local pub and agree a date.
  • Questions/rounds and quiz master.
  • Volunteers to collect completed sheets, count scores and mark board.
  • Paper/pens/table numbers/scoreboard/spot prizes. Posters including the name of the pub, entry fee, prize and of course what the quiz is in aid of.
  • Raffles can also be held successfully at quizzes.

Ceilis/Discos/Dances/70's Nights

  • Look for donated space before renting space — check out community centers, schools, reception rooms, local bars and restaurants looking for business (e.g. If its a time of week or season when business is low).
  • A good idea if you know of a band or if one of your friends does. It can be held in a local hall and themed eg. 70's night.
  • Cover charge/numbers you expect to attend and what you would expect them to spend.
  • Raffles and other competitions can also be held during these evenings.
  • Your main costs may include the hire of the hall including is there a deposit needed? (If so what are the guidelines for getting it back and when) printing of tickets, posters and raffle prizes. It is possible to get some of these items as donations.
    Watch out for hidden costs

Race Nights

  • Ask your local pub for permission to hold a race night.
  • There are established companies who provide this service.
  • You will need to write to local businesses to raise sponsorship for the races. The average amount is €100 per race.
  • Sponsorship for horses and riders. This will all help towards the overall cost of the night.
  • A programme for the night to include the names of your sponsors. Names for race night companies are available from the office.

Sponsored Events

Sponsored Events are an ideal way of collecting money. We can supply you with cards here in the office and you can ask people to sponsor you a certain amount.
If you are walking/running/cycling a considerable distance work out how far you are going and ask for sponsorship per mile/kilometre e.g. €1 a mile

Other Fundraising Ideas

  • Write sponsorship letters to local businesses
  • Get your employer to match the amount you have raised
  • Your sports & social club/leisure centre may be able to host an event
  • Ask your local school (primary & secondary) to hold a non-uniform day for you. Each pupil pays €2 or equivalent.
  • Beaumont Hospital Foundation Holiday Raffle - Tickets are available to event participants to sell with a contribution going to your fundraising. Contact us to find out more.
  • Tax Effective Giving - If a company makes a donation to Beaumont Hospital Foundation on your behalf, they can claim tax relief at the rate of corporation tax that they pay.
    If an individual makes a donation to Beaumont Hospital Foundation on your behalf (and they are a PAYE tax payer) Beaumont Hospital Foundation can reclaim the tax and this will be of additional benefit to your fundraising efforts. Please contact us for more details about this.

Set Up & Clean Up...

Remember, whatever event you organise you are representing Beaumont Hospital Foundation. Leave things as they were found (if not better) that way you can use it again in the future. Prepare in advance by asking yourself?

  • What is the procedure for set up and clean up?
  • Is there staff there to help? Or Do you need to get friends
  • Do you need to bring rubbish bags etc.
  • Does the facility have tables, chairs, a microphone, speakers, lighting etc. If so, do you have to pay extra for their rental
