Dublin Airport Fire Service Mountain Challenge 2010Dublin Airport Fire Service - Mountain Challenge in aid of Beaumont Hospital Foundation takes place this year on July 2nd- 4th. A number of other functions are planned during the year by the DAA including a Halloween Ball, a Summer BBQ and a fundraising day with the firefighters in Grafton Street amongst other events.

Itinery for this Challenge

Thursday 1st of July

  • Media launch at Dublin Airport 1200hrs.
  • Depart Fire Station at 1500hrs for Killary Harbour,Co.Mayo.
  • Arrive 2000hrs, and overnight at the Killary Adventure Centre.

Friday 2nd of July

  • Breakfast at 0430hrs
  • START ! Climb at 0515hrs on Maol RĂ©idh 2706ft, finish at 0915hrs and drive to Dunlewy, Donegal.
  • At 1430hrs climb Mount Errigal 2463ft, finish at 1700hrs and drive to Newcastle, Co Down.
  • At 1930hrs climb Sliabh Donard 2798ft, finish at 2230hrs and drive to Wicklow.
  • Arrive at 0130hrs and overnight at the Glendalough Hostel.

Saturday 3rd of July

  • Breakfast at 0530hrs.
  • Start climb at 0615hrs on Lugnaquilla 3034ft, finish at 0945hrs and drive to Kilbeheny, Co Tipp.
  • Arrive 2000hrs, and overnight at the Killary Adventure Centre.
  • At 1200hrs climb Galtymore 3015ft, finish at 1500hrs and drive to Cloghane, Dingle,Co Kerry.
  • At 1800hrs climb Mount Brandon 3123ft, finish at 2200hrs and drive to Killarney.
  • Arrive 2330hrs and overnight at the International Hostel.

Sunday 3th of July

  • Breakfast at 0530hrs.
  • Start climb at 0600hrs on all twelve peaks of the Macgillycuddy Reeks.
  • FINISH! climb 1930hrs at Kate Kearneys Cottage = 62 hours.
  • Then overnight at the Aghadoe Heights Hotel Killarney, dinner at 2100hrs and "A few pints".

Monday 5th of July

  • Last breakfast is at 1000hrs, depart Killarney at 1200hrs and back at the Fire Station at 1700hrs.
